
Camp Rising Sun's youth camp is designed for children with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. Typically-developing children (those without autism) may apply to attend camp serving as peer models. Campers wishing to attend camp must turn 8 by the first day of camp. Camper applications are reviewed carefully by a group of professionals. Campers are placed in camp team groups according to their abilities and challenges. The application review includes consideration of the available resources of the onsite camp team as well as date of receipt of the application. It is recommended that you return the application promptly; camp sessions fill VERY EARLY!
The Kids Camp is designed so kids work together in teams and participate in many differing activities, in order to expose kids to a variety of recreational and leisure activities. The program assists kids to become aware of many differing leisure activiteis and to help them learn about activities that they may be interested in learning more fully as they mature.

The Teen Camp is designed so that small groups of campers and peers have a choice in participation in different program activities with the purpose to learn skills in the activity that could lead to future leisure opportunities in the community.
Counselors-in-Training are individuals who seek leadership opportunities and desire to enrich the lives of children living with autism. To be eligible to be a CIT, individuals must be 16 or 17 years of age by the first day of camp. CIT's offer assistance to camp in supporting camper groups as well as supporting program needs around camp. The camp will provide leadership to assist the CIT to be a contributing member of the camp staff community, while learning skills in supporting the camp program. PLease review the application information for more details on the duties and requirements to be a CIT. The CIT position is a program component of CRS and therefore, a fee is charged to be a part of this program. In addition to filling out the application and securing a letter of recommendation, all applicants will participate in an interview as part of our selection process. CIT's will only be utilized in the Kids Camp, because teen peers are utilized in the Teen Camp Session..

The opportunity to participate in the Camp Rising Sun community offers interested applicants the chance to make a difference in the life of a child, experience the opportunity to learn and teach alongside persons with an autism spectrum disorder and their typically developing peers, and to work alongside other students, volunteers, and professionals. Camp offers hands on experience in a 24 hour a day recreational setting. If you are interested in applying, please download and print the PDF provided and return as soon as possible. Your application will be reviewed and you will receive information on next steps in the application process. All persons wishing to participate are screened, and then considered for interview. Each staff person will undergo a background check and is required to complete follow-up information, as well as a physical exam by a licensed medical professional.
